The Director of Development is responsible for managing a portfolio of student-based fundraising programs through the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals(r) (CMN Hospitals) and fundraising event partnerships that benefit Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The Director will work collaboratively with Medical Center leaders, CMN Hospitals colleagues and community partners to ensure the best financial outcome for the events. In addition to raising funds for the Medical Center, the goals of the Development team are to increase awareness of the charitable nature of the Medical Center, identify potential donors and make referrals and introductions to the major gifts program. Reports to: Executive Director of Community Development
Work with Executive Director to establish measurable goals and objectives in conjunction with established funding priorities of the Medical Center and CMN Hospitals.
Manage a portfolio of relationships with local and CMN Hospitals' student-based fundraising campaigns, events and programs, and community-based event fundraising events and activities at the Medical Center.
Develop and manage strategic fundraising and stewardship plans to strengthen donor relationships, loyalty and commitment to the Medical Center and CMN Hospitals.
Work closely with assigned relationships to promote best practices for their campaigns, events and programs, and achieve desired fundraising results and future growth.
Prepare communications plans and coordinate marketing, public relations, and media activities related to assigned events, programs and campaigns with CMN Hospitals and the Medical Center, in consultation with VUMC Development, Marketing and Public Affairs staff as appropriate.
Develop and execute strategic growth plan for student-based programs.
Design a process for identifying, measuring, and cultivating prospective partners.
In partnership with VUMC communications, create collateral materials.
Identify point of contact and conduct solicitation meetings.
Prepare innovative plans to maximize fundraising results for each new partner.
Manage volunteer recruitment, training and management for third party events and programs.
Design training and transition materials for programs.
Organize and conduct interviews for third party event leader selection.
Consult on goal setting, strategic planning, and donor cultivation to maximize fundraising results.
Create educational and fundraising template for compelling social media and enhanced gamification.
Utilize technologies and virtual fundraising opportunities to cultivate event fundraising opportunities and relationships for the Medical Center.
In partnership with Corporate and Foundation Relations team members, identify, cultivate and manage solicitations for all event sponsorships with corporate donors.
Create and implement onboarding process for student intern, including the hiring, management, project development, and evaluation of each intern.
Represent the institution at events and prepare key leaders for event attendance. Relay key messages about institutional priorities in written and oral communication.
Conduct tours of Children's Hospital for donors and prospects as needed.
When appropriate, identify recurring-gift and major-gift donors from events to deepen and strengthen their relationship with the Medical Center.
Uphold departmental and institutional policies regarding confidential information.
Work cooperatively with VUMC Development, and CMN Hospitals colleagues.
