Assumes the caretaker role for psychiatric patients (and non-psychiatric patients when necessary) either on psychiatric or non-psychiatric units such as medical/surgical floors, PICU, or the Emergency Department. Behavioral Care Partners will care for children including activities of daily living, maintaining a safe environment, and the management of harmful behaviors. Behavioral Care Partners deliver competent and skilled care to patients and families as supervised and delegated by the RN/LVN. Behavioral Care Partners deliver care with a team-oriented approach and an emphasis on good customer relations.
Education & Experience
High school Diploma.
One of the following:
a. Completion of a certified Nurse Assistant course. Or
b. Completion of Medical Assistant course or other comparable health care provider program with course work in patient assessment/vital signs, growth and development. Or
c. Completed first clinical semester in accredited nursing program. Experience in inpatient psychiatry or partial hospital psychiatric treatment preferred. Pediatric experience preferred.
Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification
BLS or must be completed within 60 days of start date.
CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention - Units 1-7 & 9-10 plus the CPI Children’s Control Position from Unit 8 or must be completed within 60 days of start date.
