The Community Development Specialist will lead facilitating information, consultation, engagement, and partnership opportunities to ensure community members are connected to community resources.
Purpose of the Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to engage and collaborate with individual, family, and community stakeholders toward the Mayerson Child Well-being Initiative strategic priorities.
Provide leadership and work direction to staff in the completion of multiple, complex projects with a variety of stakeholders and far-reaching impact. Consults with leader for guidance.

Program - Program & project management, implementation & execution. Demonstrated ability to implement projects successfully. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work both independently and in a team environment, and work efficiently and creatively to meet deadlines. Community Partnerships and Health Education - Knowledge of community engagement strategies and practices. Effective community education and health promotion. Capable of relating to diverse age and demographic backgrounds.
Community Engagement - Perform community outreach for established and emerging priorities within program area; Requires being dependable, organized, and task-oriented, with perseverance and excellent follow-through who relates well to people within the identified community. Knowledge of Cincinnati communities, including those served by Cincinnati Children's neighborhood locations. Serve as a point of contact for community engagement for Mayerson Child Well-being Initiative project leaders. Be aware of projects at CCHMC related to Community Health work. Manage relationships with Community Health project teams. Facilitate structures/mechanisms for effective prioritization and communication among teams and community leadership. Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to department discussions.
Research - Engage in independent research focused on issues directly relevant to respecting the rights and welfare of individuals that participate in research. Provide formal and informal consultation and guidance to those who design, develop, and implement research participant educational and support programs. Improve the institutional relationship with research participants. Identify community facilitators and barriers to participation in research through direct community interaction and develop programs and interventions to address these barriers. Provide support in the planning, development, and implementation of program objectives and the evaluation of projects, initiatives, and programs to include collection and monitoring of performance measures.
Training & communication - Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills w/ an ability to develop materials for presentations to a variety of audiences both internal and external. Computer literate and working knowledge of software word process, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing applications. Develop and maintain positive working relationships in a variety of settings, working with all levels of stakeholders to guide efforts in initiatives and programs; Attend and leads various meetings and work groups. Facilitate evaluation of community efforts as it relates to the Mayerson Child Well-being Initiative strategic objectives.

Qualifications
Education/Experience
Required:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
5 - 7 years of work experience in a related job discipline
Preferred:
Possess knowledge of and experience with community engagement, community based participatory research, co-production, and community organizing principles and practices
Possess knowledge of community resources and the initiative to locate and expand knowledge base of formal and informal resources
Ability to provide community members, partners, and champions with coaching, education, training, and support when appropriate; Ability to identify and address barriers that prevent or limit individual, family, and community stakeholder engagement
Ability to map community assets and connect activities to resource and align efforts
Ability to build and maintain enthusiasm, trust, and sense of agency, belonging, and hopefulness
Unique Skills
Competency with Microsoft Office with emphasis on PowerPoint and Excel; Project Management and Presentation Skills
