Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director - Research Integrity & Compliance.
Reporting to the Director of Research Integrity and Compliance, the Assistant Director will manage fast-paced investigations, as well as monitoring and follow-up activities, related to the conduct of research in compliance with federal and state regulations and policies at NYU Langone Hospitals and NYU Schools of Medicine. This includes research integrity, research misconduct, research security, data and biospecimen use and management, disclosures of outside activities, financial and administrative management of federal and non-federal grants and contracts, human subjects research, basic research, and new and emerging issues.
Job Responsibilities:
Direct research investigations from end-to-end, prioritize urgent reports of noncompliance, and manage the work of the Sr. Specialist dedicated to investigations in the Office of Research Integrity & Compliance.
Work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders in the Office of Research Integrity & Compliance, MCIT, Office of Science & Research (OSR), Office of Legal Counsel, and others, to respond to reports of potential noncompliance.
Ensure investigations and follow-up activities are conducted in a timely manner, with regular verbal and written reports to leadership.
Manage the conduct of electronic investigations, data sequestration, and physical inspection in collaboration with operational partners.
Create detailed work papers that support findings and document investigation steps; prepare investigation summaries that effectively communicate results; develop recommendations and alternative solutions to issues identified; discuss investigation results with the business unit and/or functional leadership and senior management.
Develop expertise in NYU Langone Health policies, federal, state and local compliance rules, as well as regulations, applicable laws, grant and contract terms, and sponsor policy.
As a senior staff member of the Research Integrity and Compliance Office, act as a role model and mentor, provide guidance to other staff members, and assist the Director as requested.
Promptly respond to requests, demonstrate flexibility and adaptability when managing multiple projects and requests, and provide excellent customer service.
Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree and a minimum of five years of relevant work experience addressing research compliance and in applying regulations related to sponsored research for an academic medical center, university or the equivalent experience in a related area of hospital or research administration. Excellent analytical, communication (including presentation), and project management skills. Ability to understand, apply, and communicate complicated policies and laws and regulations at all levels while maintaining high level of confidentiality. Ability to work independently and to make decisions on projects without additional oversight. Ability to successfully collaborate with individuals at various levels throughout the institution to elicit needed information, discuss sensitive information, and develop workable solutions to meet applicable policies and protect the institution and its research mission.
Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree or JD. Experience in the conduct, publication, and/or application for funding of biomedical research. Experience with investigative and/or forensic techniques. Knowledge of the federal Research Misconduct policies and procedures. Experience with e-discovery software.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $124,000 - $160,000 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
