Children’s of Mississippi (COM), part of The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC), is seeking a Manager, RN Quality/Patient Safety to support its missions of health care, academics and research. This position reports directly to the Director Nursing Children’s Hospital Services. We are located in Jackson, MS, and is the only children’s hospital in the state. COM is a 265-bed state of the art children’s hospital with clinics throughout the state. COM is beginning its Magnet journey in 2023.
UMMC is the state’s only academic health sciences center and provides the only Level I Trauma Center, Level IV NICU, children’s hospital and solid organ transplantation services. Position Summary:
In this role, you will manage and maintain the development of a comprehensive organizational nursing quality & patient safety improvement program inclusive of analysis & trending data. You will promote a culture of safety within the organization. Leads and promotes a culture of safety. Works closely with the CMO and CQO in developing process improvements that support the elimination of medical/health care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes.
Strong candidates will have compelling written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to individuals and audiences throughout the institution. Must have strong knowledge of local, state, federal, & accrediting agencies. Effective knowledge of process improvement and quality outcomes.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in nursing. Master's degree in Nursing or Health Care Administration preferred. Minimum of 5 years recent acute care experience with at least 2 years supervisory or management experience or process improvement/quality experience.
Must have a valid RN license. CPHQ Certification is preferred.
