Role Purpose
This role is a system-level position and will report directly to the System Director, Infection Prevention.This position manages infection prevention initiatives and programs across multiple domains, specialties, or facilities in the organization. This position is responsible for guiding annual Infection Prevention and Control risk assessment and data-driven plans, and manages multiple and/or large projects and project teams in order to meet needs of the organization. In collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders, this position supports their team to develop policies, procedures, and infrastructure to support needs of the organization. This position facilitates the Infection Prevention and Epidemiology Consortium, provides training and mentorship to new and current members of the Infection Prevention teams, and ensures bi-directional communication with teams and stakeholders; seeks alignment and collaboration with other system teams, i.e. Occupational Health, Regulatory, Patient Safety, Risk Management, Quality, Professional Practice.
Responsibilities
Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
Manages operational work that contributes to BJC HealthCare's strategic priorities, including education and implementation of infection prevention evidence-based guidelines and best practices.
Executes standard program components, uses standardized tools and processes, and both leads and contributes to development of system policies, procedures, and process improvement initiatives.
Leads program in outbreak or cluster investigations, healthcare-associated infection investigations and root cause analyses, emerging infectious diseases preparedness and response, and/or other special cause investigations.
Advises organization on infection prevention best practices; provides formal and informal training to members of the infection prevention teams and other clinical staff, leaders, employees, and visitors. Considered an expert in the field of Infection Prevention.
Collaborates with BJC stakeholders, including system and HSO Infection Prevention departments, and actively participates in multi-disciplinary and multi-HSO teams and committees. Maintains proactive and ongoing communication with teams, colleagues, and leaders across the organization.
