OBHS Substance Pro-FeeThe following positions within Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatry, Inpatient Adult Psychiatry, Psychiatric Emergency Services, CARES, and Outpatient Behavioral Health Services are offering the opportunity to enroll in a new program offering a cash incentive to recognize your work treating patients with substance use disorders. This program is sponsored through the ACCESS (Advancing Careers, Competencies, and Equity in Substance Treatment Services) grant. Employees must be >0.6 FTE to be eligible. 50% of the bonus will be received 90 days after signing the program contract.
· Registered Nurses (RNs) may earn up to $7,500 by December 2024 · Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) may earn up to $3,500 by December 2024 · Care Navigators may earn up to $3,500 by December 2024
Job Summary
The Medical Director of Outpatient Substance Use Treatment manages four multidisciplinary outpatient teams: ORT (Opiate Replacement Therapy, including methadone), DHARC (Denver Health Addiction Recovery Clinic), WFS (Women and Family Services), and STEP (adolescent substance use treatment team). In addition to direct oversight of the outpatient substance use programs, the Outpatient Medical Director plays a key role in the development of coordinated services across the organization, working closely with the medical and psychiatric emergency rooms, the inpatient medical and psychiatric units, the Denver Cares Detox, the primary care clinics and the school-based clinics, and helps to develop and maintain key community partnerships. Finally, the Outpatient Medical Director oversees (directly and indirectly) the multidisciplinary learners (APPs, Medical Students, Residents and Fellows) who are trained at our clinics. This is a very unique role, offering an opportunity to work with our cutting-edge multidisciplinary team, one of the most advanced in the state, improving outcomes and access to this critical area of healthcare.
Essential Functions:
Provide direct clinical care for patients in the opioid treatment program (OTP, methadone dispensary) and office-based outpatient treatment (OBOT/Denver Health Addiction Recovery Center/DHARC). (50%)
Attend regular meetings with BHS leadership, including Outpatient Assistant Department Chair (ADOS), Operations Management, Counseling supervisors, in regularly scheduled and ad hoc meetings and work with Pavilion K managers including Nurse Manager, Operations Manager, and Counselor Manager to review and ensure compliance with all relevant SAMHSA, CO BHA, DEA, Signal, Joint Commission, and Health Care Policy and Financing regulations and policies. (40%)
Manage residents and fellows in clinic, including schedules, orientation, and supervision, complete resident and fellow evaluations, attend mid- and end-of-year fellow and resident evaluation meetings, and promote academic advancement of academic track clinicians through submission of abstracts, posters, teaching sessions, and original research to local, regional, and national meetings or through publication. (10%)
Education:
Doctorate Degree Internal or Family Medicine Required or
Doctorate Degree Addictions Psychiatry Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years 3 years of outpatient clinic experience with demonstrated leadership qualities and evidence of leading initiatives at the clinic or division level, or oversight of advanced practice providers. Required
Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Has adequate knowledge and skill of all privileged procedures as outlined in the Denver Health and Hospital Authority General Internal Medicine Clinical Privileges documentation.
Knowledge and interest in multi-disciplinary ambulatory care, ability to work in teams and motivate physicians and other providers to improve quality, patient experience and operational efficiency.
Communicate effectively with a wide variety of staff as well as administration.
Possess critical thinking, analytical and teaching/coaching skills.
Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff while providing quality medical care
Able to analyze, interpret and act upon relevant clinical and financial data that pertain to the practice.
Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

Demonstrated history of positive collegial relations with colleagues, support staff, providers, administrators and patients.
