The role you’ll contribute:
The Cardiovascular Invasive Laboratory Specialist - RN performs a wide range of technical skills, which are utilized during a variety of complex Cardiac interventional, Complex diagnostic/interventional Electrophysiology, or Interventional Radiology procedures to provide an efficient, comfortable, and safe examination of all patients. The CILS IV is proficient in all aspects of angiography, preparation, assessment, documentation and monitoring consistent with the policies, procedures and processes of the Cardiovascular Services department and Hospital Administration. Adheres to the guidelines and standards of professional practice associations. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Nursing Process: Based on the assessment and diagnosis, sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for the patient (ANA, 2012), assisting in the development and implementation of an individualized plan of care. Prioritizes and completes follow up assessments, evaluates and modifies plan of care as needed. Nursing practice reflects mutual goal setting and whole person care including meeting the needs of the mind, body and spirit. (King, 1995)
Nursing Knowledge: Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including, but not limited to lab results, non-invasive monitoring data and interdisciplinary team notes. Nursing practice reflects the application of knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population.
Professional Development: Abides by American Nurses Association Scope, Standards and Code of Ethics. Participates in practice changes, process improvement initiatives and completes all required education by the due date. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Exhibits desire to learn, teach, mentor and advance nursing skills.
Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand hygiene according to accepted standards of care. Identifies and prepares patient using aseptic technique as dictated by procedure ordered. Exhibits awareness of hazards which may endanger patients. Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and enforces safety regulations. Annually meets all required department specific competencies
Verifies orders and facilitates implementation, communicating with physician as needed. Performs treatments and administers medications according to policy and training. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and medications. Performs within the bounds of the applicable scope of practice for Cardiovascular Interventional Technologists. Facilitates timely patient throughput
Produces an accurately written, promptly completed medical record for each patient based upon the scope and complexity of the intervention procedure and patient clinical conditions. Maintains authenticity and security of the record, and follows prescribed process for amending documents
Performs effectively in all three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub) required in a therapeutic cardiac laboratory team based on the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals Scope of Practice and/or performs effectively in all three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub) required in an electrophysiology laboratory based on the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals Scope of Practice. Takes call as rotated/assigned and responds (in hospital) per policy.
Learns and upgrades skills. Utilizes knowledge base to assist with orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Provides training for procedures within their competency.
Proficiently performs diagnostic and complex coronary interventional procedures, diagnostic and complex electrophysiology procedures, diagnostic and complex peripheral interventional procedures, and/or structural heart procedures, and/or diagnostic and complex pediatric interventional procedures.
*Terms: 24-month Full-time Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Relocation Eligibility:
Must live 50 miles outside of campus address.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
Graduate of a school of nursing
Current valid State of Florida or multi state license as a Registered Nurse
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Knowledge of advanced levels of ECG training and arrhythmia interpretation
Knowledge of Cardiovascular anatomy
Knowledge of Vascular anatomy
Knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring and physiology
Ability to monitor patient blood pressure, ECG, and Pulse Oximetry using sophisticated clinical equipment
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Knowledge of advanced levels of ECG training and arrhythmia interpretation
Knowledge of complex electrophysiology procedures
Knowledge of pediatric invasive procedures
Knowledge of complex cardiac intervention procedures
Knowledge of interventional radiology procedures
Knowledge of peripheral diagnostic procedures
Knowledge of peripheral interventional procedures
Knowledge of structural heart procedures
