The Division of Child Protection within the Department of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Child Abuse Pediatrician to join our multidisciplinary team. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children while working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
About Us:
- Based at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, a 190-bed, free-standing children's hospital and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center.
- Our team includes:
- 1 full-time Child Abuse Pediatrician
- 1 full-time Nurse Practitioner
- 2 full-time Social Workers
- 6 full-time Nurses
- The Department of Pediatrics features 130 faculty members across all major subspecialties, fostering collaboration and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert inpatient and outpatient consultations.
- Share call responsibilities within the division.
- Supervise advanced practice providers.
- Educate future healthcare professionals and community partners.
- Mentor providers in Missouri's SAFECARE network.
- Engage in research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, child services, and other agencies.
- Participate in policy development to protect children.
- Support programs such as our comprehensive foster care clinic and statewide initiatives (fatality review teams, advisory committees).
Qualifications:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Child Abuse Pediatrics.
- Eligible for an unrestricted Missouri medical license.
- Strong commitment to child advocacy and trauma-informed care.
- Ability to navigate complex child welfare systems and collaborate with community organizations.
